Why we procrastinate…

Hello, are you there?

Are labels or limited beliefs stifling you?

Are labels or limited beliefs stifling you? When you were very young and someone asked you "What do you want to be when you grow up?" What did you reply? Whatever it was, I'll bet your answer wasn't limited by negativity or limiting beliefs. I bet you didn't see any reason why you weren't worthy of becoming what you dreamt of regardless of gender, financial limitations, culture, stigmas, or labels.

When you were very young and someone asked you “What do you want to be when you grow up?” what did you reply?Whatever it was, I’ll bet your answer wasn’t limited by negativity or limiting beliefs. I bet you didn’t see any reason why you weren’t worthy of becoming what you dreamt of regardless of gender, financial limitations, culture, stigmas, or labels.

Inappropriate labels are sometimes voiced when puzzled parents, relatives, and friends don’t understand the power of the words they use to describe you. Here are some examples:

“You should be in sales because you like to talk.”

“You should be an engineer like Dad!”

“All strong men in our family are entrepreneurs.”

Or on a more personal level, parents and family members can give us “labels” which stay with us for a lifetime.

“You are so lazy, you won’t make it in this world.”

“You are such a slob.”

“Why can’t you be like your sister?”

These negative words can stay in your subconscious forever, even if they aren’t intended to be negative but helpful, they can limit your beliefs or abilities of what you can accomplish for yourself.

Sometimes, we place these labels, limitations, and negative beliefs on ourselves too. Last fall, I worked with a client who believed he could never afford his own home. Last week he closed on his 1st home and is now a believer that “new thought patterns” can change his reality. He also was of the opinion that his business had grown to it’s full capacity. After one month, and some intense coaching, he had three new clients and was in awe of how easy it had happened!

Using different thoughts patterns, hypnolinguistic scripts, and open- mindedness can bring more events, successes, and possibilities in your life than you ever imagined possible. These changes can occur with new clients, a new career, gain of a relationship, weight loss, skill at a sport, a job promotion, and anything you can dream of.  By using different, positive words with yourself you can create a new, more desirable reality.

According to Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right.

The mind, more than anything else, determines how far you can go on the success journey.
